Dr S M Cunden he is also a General Surgeon
Dr Cunden did his primary degree in Medicine in Bordeaux and then worked as a resident doctor for two years in France itself. During this period he also prepared and completed his MD Thesis on Mediastinal Lymphoma after working and doing clinical research at Bergonie cancer Hospital in Bordeaux
Afterwards, he returned to Mauritius where he worked in the Health Service for one year. Then he went to England to acquire further work experience in NHS teaching hospitals. During the six years spent in England, he has worked as a fully registered doctor in NHS hospitals in specialist departments including gastroenterology and cardiology. Ultimately he undertook general surgical training in Mauritius and Reunion through Bordeaux University. In Mauritius, he carried out another Thesis on Breast disease and Cancer.
He completed his General surgery in 2013 and pursued one year further training at Centre Hospitalier- Universitaire de la Reunion in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery, while concurrently doing a Diploma in Laparoscopic surgery. In 2016-2017 he did a full time surgical posting in Mauritius Govt. Hospitals for his mastery of Surgery and to adapt to the local aspect of Surgical care. Since then, he is working in private practice in Rose Hill.
Dr Cunden practised in France, England and Mauritius. Over the years he has gained experience in different aspects of Medicine that enables him to adopt a holistic approach in management of patients. His duty includes investigations ( Clinical Laboratory, Electrocardiogram, Echography, Biopsy…)and treating patients using multiple skills and facilities at his disposal .
He has also been the clinical advisor to the Medical Laboratory- Dr Senevrayar for more than 10 years.
